2022 Brewing Competition

2022 Beermingham Invitational Brewing Competition will be held October 8 at Hop City BHAM. This is a BJCP sanctioned event. Deadline for entry is September 30.

Please note, based on your feedback from last year's event, we have significantly expanded the categories.

 

2022 categories are as follow:

Pilsner/Lager

IPA

  • Hazy

  • Traditional

Pale Ale

Sour

  • Wild/Spontaneous

  • Berliner Wiess/Gose

  • Fruited

Stout

  • Traditional

  • Pastry/Barrel Aged

Ambers/Browns

Barley/Wheat Ales

Belgian

 

Entries will be judged based on BJCP guidelines and will receive a 0-100 score. Entries will have the opportunity to receive a Gold/Silver/Bronze award based on score, and the potential for Best in Category as well as Best in Show.

 

Judging will take place on Saturday, October 8th, and the results will be announced at the Brewzapalooza Beer and Music festival taking place at Hop City on Sunday October 9th. 

 

(Breweries are invited to attend free of charge. Please send the names of any brewery representatives that would like to attend to Beerminghambrewingcompetition@gmail.com no later than Saturday October 6th so that they may be added to the guest list.)

 

How to enter:

Please email a list of all beers being entered to Beerminghambrewingcompetition@gmail.com

Beers must be delivered to Hop City Birmingham from Monday October 3rd to Thursday October 6th by 5:00 PM and must be checked in by a Hop City representative.

 

Beers delivered after the deadline will not be judged.

Beers may be packaged in cans or crowlers, growlers, or bottles. No kegs will be accepted unless previously approved by Hop City management.               

 

Sample volume must be the equivalent of at least 72oz but no more than 128oz.

[ABV]

Please ensure all labels are legible and can withstand prolonged exposure to moisture.

 

We are excited to share this experience with all of you and the people of Beermingham! We will continue to grow this event every year and expand it to become the premier regional competition that will bring recognition to our local craft breweries and put our great city on the map as an amazing beer destination!
